  Introduction
This 18-month specialist course has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to enter the newly emerging and exciting area of mobile computing and communications.
The advent of mobile phone technologies (such as 3G), the proliferation of wireless networking (W-LANs), the use of Bluetooth personal devices, and the widespread use of Internet technologies, has heralded the arrival of an entirely new business model (mCommerce). This course aims to provide you with an understanding of how such key technologies work, their relative strengths and weaknesses, and an appreciation as to how they can best be utilised and integrated to meet specific business needs.
The course builds on a solid foundation of generic software development skills, networking, computing fundamentals and information systems. It then introduces the specific skills required for designing, developing, and deploying mobile applications. The structure of the course ensures an optimum balance is maintained between the development of highly specialised technical skills and the development of analytical skills required for the appropriate application of mobile technologies to business contexts.
