  If you are interested in starting a career in health and social care or just want to find out if this is the right career choice, then these qualifications are for you. You will get an interesting introduction to health and social care. The qualifications are also very flexible, allowing you to study individual units alongside other qualifications if you want to.

  Assessments  
  There are no exams. Your tutor will assess your work for all units and this will be checked by OCR. The OCR Level 3 Nationals in Sport includes three types of qualifications, each one building on the previous.  
     
 
To achieve the First Award in Health and Social Care, you have to achieve four mandatory units (units
  1, 2, 3 and 4)
To achieve the National Award in Health and Social Care, you have to achieve five mandatory units
  (units 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) and complete three optional units
To achieve the National Certificate in Health and Social Care, you have to complete 12 units consisting
   of the six mandatory units and six optional units.
 
     
  Progression  
 
Start work at trainee level in some health and social care roles – for example, as a care assistant
Take other qualifications at the same or higher levels
Take Level 2 qualifications, for example the OCR Level 2 National Certificate in Health and Social Care,
  followed by employment through a work-related training programme.
 
     
  It is also possible to work your way through the suite. You can start with the four-unit First Award and, by adding an extra mandatory unit and three optional units, you can achieve the National Award. You can then progress by taking another mandatory unit and three more optional units to gain the full National Certificate.
